Israeli officials are reportedly disappointed with the meeting between Netanyahu and Obama. In essence, it seems that the ever-decisive Obama doesn't want to give Israel either a red, or a green light for an attack on Iran, as either could backfire badly
in an election year. More here.
For my money, Obama will act according to Israel's next move. If Israel attacks, Obama then has political cover to join in -- if necessary-- and blame Israel for giving him no other choice. As for Netanyahu, who now knows exactly where he stands with the US, I predict he will arrive home, get a final update from the Mossad and Defence Minister Ehud Barak and order an immediate attack on Iran's nuclear sites. With Syria in chaos, the timing will never be more auspicious. Why wait?
