Bamghazi: diplomat reveals retaliation for speaking up
A veteran diplomat gave a riveting minute-by-minute account on Wednesday of the lethal terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, last Sept. 11 and described its contentious aftermath at a charged Congressional hearing that reflected the weighty political stakes perceived by both parties, The New York Times reports
During a chaotic night at the American Embassy in Tripoli, hundreds of miles away, the diplomat, Gregory Hicks, got what he called “the saddest phone call I’ve ever had in my life” informing him that Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was dead and that he was now the highest-ranking American in Libya. For his leadership that night when four Americans were killed, Mr. Hicks said in nearly six hours of testimony, he subsequently received calls from both Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Obama.
But within days, Mr. Hicks said, after raising questions about the account of what had happened in Benghazi offered in television interviews by Susan E. Rice, the United Nations ambassador, he felt a distinct chill from State Department superiors. “The sense I got was that I needed to stop the line of questioning,” said Mr. Hicks, who has been a Foreign Service officer for 22 years.
He was soon given a scathing review of his management style, he said, and was later “effectively demoted” to desk officer at headquarters, in what he believes was retaliation for speaking up. More [Thanks BJS]

Benghazi cover-up 'stinks'
Our Sydney, Australia, Correspondent, draws our attention to a piece in the London Telegraph by the always-excellent James Delingpole, who writes:
"I've just been watching the riveting live coverage of Congress's investigation into the Benghazi disaster in which US ambassador Chris Stevens was murdered by Al Qaeda affiliates while the Obama administration stood by and let it happen. What becomes clearer than ever, listening to the testimony of America's most senior surviving man on the ground Greg Hicks, is that the whole business reeks of the most concerted presidential cover up since Watergate...
....As I watched, I was reminded of a joke Obama made recently at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
"I recognize that the press and I have different jobs to do. My job is to be President; your job is to keep me humble. Frankly, I think I’m doing my job better."
Except it wasn't really a joke at all. Just an honest reflection of the near-total lack of scrutiny that the Obama administration gets from his amen corner in the MSM. Read it all

Ludicrous leftoids burn climate books
Two environmentalist professors at San Jose State University, put a match to an anti-global warming book – plus a photo of their little exercise - leaving an image that clearly illustrates the state of science-based academic freedom on college campuses nationwide. The image appeared on the university’s official Department of Meteorology and Climate Science webpage, no less. More here.

Barack Obama's Diary: Lunch with Park
Dear Diary: Today I met with President Park Geun-hye, the first female president of South Korea. We had lunch with Joe Biden followed by a press conference. Korean is not one of the many languages in which I am fluent. I was glad to have Joe present to fill awkward silences. Bo wandered in looking for attention. "How do you like the dog?" Joe asked her. She wrinkled her nose with distaste as she chewed. "In that case just eat your vegetables," said Joe. I then treated her to my performance of Gangnam Style which Sasha and Malia had taught me. President Park covered her mouth and made a strange gurgling noise. She was clearly hugely impressed. But enough about me.

Eurocrats want to ban all unapproved veggies
Sssshhh! Don't let Obama hear about a new law proposed by the European Commission that would make it illegal to "grow, reproduce or trade" any vegetable seeds that have not been "tested, approved and accepted" by a new EU bureaucracy named the "EU Plant Variety Agency." It attempts to put the government in charge of virtually all plants and seeds. Home gardeners who grow their own plants from non-regulated seeds would be considered criminals under this law. Learn more: Benghazi scandal about to be blown wide open
The Deputy of slain U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens has told congressional investigators that a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, reports Sharyl Attkisson of CBS.
The account from Gregory Hicks is in stark contrast to assertions from the Obama administration, which insisted that nobody was ever told to stand down and that all available resources were utilized. Hicks gave private testimony to congressional investigators last month in advance of his appearance at a congressional hearing this Wednesday. More
UPDATE: Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said on his radio show Monday that President Obama “will not fill out his full term” because he was complicit in a “cover-up” surrounding the attack. ..."And as the facts come out, I think we’re going to see something startling. And before it’s over, I don’t think this president will finish his term unless somehow they can delay it in Congress past the next three and a half years." Read more.

Barack Obama's Diary: Tee time
Dear Diary: Golf glorious golf, there's nothing quite like it! I have outfoxed those who would seize the chance to complain about my golfing on a weekday, by playing with three senators: two Republicans and one Democrat. Everyone and their cat wants me to cozy up to Congress, so it's a win-win. A masterly move --if I may say so myself-- and I can, so I have. I normally play with aides who have the commonsense not to outplay me. The downside of playing with Senators Corker, Chambliss and Udall is that they have no inhibitions about that whatsoever. The sky is cloudy and showers are expected. Today could take an overall ugly turn. Michelle keeps Bo well away from me after golf so I can't kick him. I may have to be content with the ritual of calling Carney in and ripping him a new one for any bad press I've gotten today. But enough about me.
