Barack Obama's Diary: smart diplomacy

Dear Diary:  Today I met with the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong. My staff had dusted off my speech for leaders of small countries: " [name of country] is one of our oldest and closest allies,  and -- to use a boxing term --  punches above its weight. [ Long pause, raise chin] we stand firmly with [name of country] at this difficult time in that region of the world."  I am still constantly being disturbed by Pentagon brass who are fretting about what to do about that pesky Kim Jong-un. At lunch today, Joe Biden suggested  we arrange an official Biden visit to North Korea; at an opportune moment he'll grab Kim, put him over his knee and give him a damned good spanking. Something needs to be done.  Kim wastes my time  and a brilliant mind such as mine is a dreadful thing to waste. But enough about me.
